I have selected everyday objects that hold meaning to my daily routine. From my dog’s ball (sphere), to a small bag I croched (complex object), each object has a story to tell. Using these objects as a base, I have started to explore more as to how I might go about modeling them in Cinema4d.


Project 1


Module 1

Below is my formstorming for project 1. I created my own minitature photoshoot studio in my room. Using my ring light and white foam boards I got from the dollarstore. I explored different camera settings on my phone, different light setting, angles, and perspectives. As a next step I starte exploring what modeling these objects might look like in Cinema4d and that was a lovely start to a new adventure! ☺️

Activity 1 - Cinema4d Trials

This was my first ever trial in Cinema 4d and it was actually really intresting figuring out how the persepectives work. I was exploring the bend tool in C4D, and understanding the concept of a parent and child in the system. To further explore a parent and child, I added a twist to see how that would affect the model. Started making an extremely simple obeject with cylinders to explore the software more. Started getting into materials, how they work, and what I can do with it. Further exploring the parent child conept with deformers. Testing a taper and how it can be used in different ways depeding on the order of the children placed. Material Workshop 1

This is a wooden chair we found in the AA wing. The surface felt smooth, and we could see the grain of the wood. It looked strong and handmade. We described how wood is a natural material often used in furniture because it is warm, durable, and easy to shape.

It was clear and smooth but also fragile. We said glass is used for decoration or storage because it can hold shape and show transparency while reflecting light beautifully.s

Material Workshop 2

This is a small glass piece shaped like a seashell. It was smooth, shiny, and a little heavy. The light passed through it, showing how glass can reflect and bend light. We said glass is used for art and design because it looks delicate and elegant. <a href='https://www.youtube.com/embed/tgbNymZ7vqY' target='_blank'><p>Project Video Link</p></a> This is a rectangular object we studied in class. It felt solid and had clean, straight edges. It might have been plastic or metal. We talked about how rectangular shapes are common in design because they feel balanced and organized. <div class='container'><iframe class='responsive-iframe' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/tgbNymZ7vqY'></iframe></div> This is a tennis ball from the materials table. It was soft, light, and easy to squeeze. We noticed its fuzzy texture and bright color. We said rubber and fabric are used together here to make it both bouncy and comfortable to hold.

Project 1 Models

Published 3D Model 1

The Sheridan Bear was my first model and a big learning step. Once I found the right tutorial, shaping and smoothing the bear became easier, and I learned how to make organic forms look soft and natural.

The Scrunchie Bow took time to get right because I wanted the fabric to look realistic. After trying a few shapes, I edited a cube and adjusted its form to look like folded fabric, which gave the bow a soft and natural appearance.

The Dog Ball was the most difficult model to make. I tried engraving text on the sphere almost ten times before getting it close to what I wanted, and although it was frustrating, it helped me understand how Booleans and surfaces work better in Cinema 4D.
